The FreeStyle monitor is great. My wife has a Continual Glucose Monitor and needs to check her blood sugar at night and doen’t want to turn a light on. With this monitor it has a built in light for the strip and after the blood is applied to the strip the meter lights up so the reading can be seen.

Apparently the company has stopped making this model, but not the test strips that go with it. It was hard to find locally, but Amazon located it. It was as advertised, and arrived in good condition and time.

Maybe it’s because I have never used a Glucose monitor device before but I found the setup and instructions lengthy and often confusing. I am a middle aged man and college grad and though not a genius, the entire process of reading the “Quick” Instructions, the manual, and then the actual Setup and test took well over an hour. My subsequent testing now takes just minutes but I wonder how many people especially senior citizens may be put off by this steep learning curve unless they get some help. In opposition to another reviewer, it’s hardley usable right out of the box. However, once indoctrinated in how to use the monitor, I was pleased in it’s operation. The monitor comes with a nice traveling pouch, a long manual, a handy log for recording your tests and other reading material. Important…make sure the code on the strips vial matches the code on the monitor or you may get inaccurate results as warned in the manual. Again..read before using which will take some time.

This product was purchased for my recently-diagnosed diabetic dog. The response from the FreeStyle Flash glucose monitor is very quick (~7 seconds) and the system needs only the smallest drop of blood to obtain an accurate reading. The large, bright backlit display makes reading the results very easy. We use the dog’s ear to obtain the blood and with such a minor stick from the lancet, he doesn’t mind the procedure.

We tested its reliability and validity on humans and found the system to be quite sufficient for clinical practice. The instructions were clear, concise and comprehensive. I really liked the inclusion of 10 strips and 10 lancing devices, the compact carrying case, and the lithium batteries – the product was ready to use upon unpacking the box.

This has been a great product and given that our veterinarian charges $15.00 to obtain a single blood sugar reading, has more than paid for itself. It’s accurate, simple to use, small in size and comes with all necessary accessories. By the way, the price was great through Amazon and standard shipping took 5 business days!

This is the best glucometer we have tried. I have tried One Touch, One Touch Ultra, BD, Bayer, and many more. This is the one that has the features that I have been complaining about the others not having. I test my son a lot at night. This has, not only a back light, but also a little light by the strip so you can see your blood sample without turning on the light. As soon as the blood sample is on the strip the back light turns on. Genius! Great for movie theatres, dark car, etc. I used to have to carry a flash light. Nice small size that fits nicely into your palm. The others often slipped out of my hand. I have nothing bad to say about this product.
