I thought this would be a good item to have when it appeared in my Gold Box. It arrived with dead batteries and two booklets of complex directions. This scale is not simple to use, it tips from side to side when stepping on and to see the display, one must lean over to see the numbers as they flash past—a test of balance and agility not mentioned in the promotional material. The design is not user friendly and the price is out of line with its functionality. It’s only good feature is the low profile and sleek appearance of the glass surface. Not worth it!

Pros: Very nice looking scale. I like the way you get all the different read outs. Very easy to use and set up.

Cons: Some of the read outs changed for the worst over the course of a day, first the reads were good than the next day they were bad kind of confusing , but I’m still getting the hang of it.

While this is not as simple as an average scale, it is not an average scale by any means. It is as it claims to be – a body composition monitor (which can also function as a simple scale if desired).

Weight alone is a poor indicator of health and fitness and, even with measuring tapes and body fat calculators I never could get as clear a sense of my fitness goals as I can with this monitor.

From using this over the past few months I’ve come to realize that, despite the fact that I maintain a fairly constant weight, I really need to work toward stabilizing my muscle to fat ratio.

Also, as a woman I find it tremedously helpful to see how much of my weight fluctuation is due to water weight.

This has been an invaluable tool in my efforts to refine my physique and improve my overall fitness. With the insight and motivation I gain from using this monitor I’ve been able to reach fitness goals that eluded me in my twenties, before our daughter was born.

purchased a tanita scale 5 years ago and used it regularly. I saw this latest ironman version and decided to upgrade. Interestingly the cost for the latest upgraded model cost the same as the intro model 5 years ago. So, you get more for your money. The durability of the new scale far exceeds the old one. There are also many more features…body water %, muscle mass, basal metabolic rate, and metabolic age to name a few. I am very happy I made the purchase. Especially since the scale came up with a 15 for metabolic age and I’m 40! It’s a quality product!!
